2011 PDX Bicycle Show Spotlight - Bike Cozy

Bike Cozy

Year Established: 2007

About Bike Cozy:

Bike Cozy was born in an attic with a sewing machine, a window and a wish to make something useful.

Rachel's line of bicycling accessories is designed to make bicycling a little cozier. Whether it's by keeping your tools organized and within reach, or keeping your feet dry in
your toe-cages, the products are designed with the everyday hero in mind.

Bike Cozy first appeared to the public at the 2007 BikeCraft, hosted by BikePortland, and has since started wholesaling to local shops. You can find Bike Cozy goods at
several of our bicycle shops including A Better Cycle, the worker-owned bicycle repair shop that Rachel runs with 5 mechanics.
Soon Rachel hopes to work with other local companies to bring even more cozy bicycling accessories to life.

New for 2011:

Things to see at the Bike Cozy table:

The Bike Crafter Yearbook 2011: a compendium of Bike Crafters near and far so you can support local and handmade goods and accessories for your bicycling needs.

It took me three hours the first time I changed both tires/tubes on my first bicycle in Portland, an old Motobecane names Atlas. My first winter in Portland (2006) I rode without fenders and had a constant mud splash up by back. Other things I learned that winter included: steel wheels in pdx winter could be considered a death trap, the pocket bicycle map put out by the city is worth its weight in gold, following someone who also just moved to the city, at night, in the lloyd, in the rain leaves a very high chance you'll end up wiping out due to the trolley tracks.
